DVLA Personalised Registrations' first auction of the summer got off to a flying start with £230,000 being raised in the first hour here at Whittlebury Hall, Northamptonshire.
The scene was set with the first lot of the day - 98 A - falling under the hammer for £7,200. Other notable successes have been 98 AS selling for £6,200, 12 ASA going for £6,700 and 11 ASG fetching £4,100.
Damian Lawson, DVLA Personalised Registrations' Marketing Manager, said: "The atmosphere in the auction room has been electric from the start. The summer sun seems to have brought bidders out in their droves, the auction room is buzzing."
He added: "The atmosphere is reflected in the sums being raised. While I have been pleased with the level of high-end figures, bargain hunters have also been pleasantly surprised."
