The 10-series coming into force in March has helped to convert a previous "non believer" into a fan of personalised registrations.
Unconvinced about the necessity of private plates, Arlo Cox became an instant fan the moment his girlfriend Nicola Hogg showed him his rather unusual name in the registration AR10 COX.
To add further delight the plate was available to buy instantly through DVLA Personalised Registrations’ website and the avid biker snapped it up for £799.
Arlo, from Caversham, near Reading, who was named after the 1960s folk singer Arlo Guthrie, admitted: "For once having a rather unusual name has paid off with the AR10 part of my plate!
"I admit I was never really into personalised plates, but my girlfriend Nicola likes them and the moment she showed me AR10 COX on the computer I just had to have it. It’s a great bit of fun and having the plate can’t help but make me smile."
He added: "Because of the spacing laws for square motorbike plates, the spacing will be perfectly suited for my name as AR10 will sit above COX."
Unfortunately for Arlo, his new found plate has thrown up a rather pleasant problem as he’s now "having" to buy a brand new motorbike to place the 10-series plate onto because, legally, you’re not allowed to use a personalised registration to make a vehicle look newer than it actually is.
