RSS is a hit as DVLA surpasses 1 million mark
Monday, 23 November 2009
RSS may be an acronym for the Really Simple Syndication of news, but for DVLA Personalised Registrations it spells Really Superb Success...
The agency has cause to celebrate this week after surpassing its millionth page view since launching its web-based news service six months ago.
Damian Lawson, DVLA Personalised Registrations' Marketing Manager, said: "Our latest figures have completely taken us by surprise. While we were aware the service was being well received, clocking up more than 1 million page views in six months is totally astounding."
He added: "We have long revelled in the success from news stories aimed at the more traditional print and broadcast media, however we recognised the need to move with the times and deliver a thorough news service to web users."
The secret to the agency's success has been attributed to providing regular news and feature pieces and the inclusion of professional, broadcast quality, videos produced to accompany its more traditional written news bulletins.
DVLA Personalised Registrations' leading story chronicles Ferrari's UK press office's decision to buy the F1 CAL personalised registration for its Ferrari California sportscar prior to its global launch in the summer.
Other successes include a brief piece outlining the successful start to DVLA's summer auction staged at the RBS Williams F1 Conference Centre and the detailed feature explaining how and why an aging Stoke-on-Trent businessman who, after building up a fortune from industrial waste, has become one of the UK's most prolific personalised registration buyers over the last five years.
It is illegal to misrepresent a vehicle registration on a number plate. The rules governing their correct display can be found at: dvlaregistrations.direct.gov.uk/home/en/FAQ/
