Christmas comes early thanks to DVLA's sealed bid sale
Tuesday, 20 October 2009
DVLA Personalised Registrations believes Christmas gifts galore could well be had from its latest Sealed Bid Sale, which got underway on Monday, October 19.
The combination of 1,000 previously un-issued registrations - some with reserves as low as £130 - and the fact the sale closes at 2pm on Friday, November 6, and in doing so allows plenty of time for the relevant paperwork to be processed before December 25, the agency believes the sale will prove a winner with motorists wanting to buy their loved ones an unusual, ever-lasting, gift.
There is no live, physical auction to attend. Instead, all bids are submitted to the auctioneer prior to the deadline. Bidders make "sealed bids" which are invisible to others and when the deadline has passed, all are opened and each lot sold to the highest bidder.
Bidding could not be easier, simply visit the website to register and submit your bid. Once a bid has been placed, bidders have the total freedom to alter their bids up to the deadline and have the flexibility to add or subtract lots and increase or decrease bids. At the end of the sale, you will be contacted if you have been successful.
It is illegal to misrepresent a vehicle registration on a number plate. The rules governing their correct display can be found at: dvlaregistrations.direct.gov.uk/home/en/FAQ/
