DVLA Personalised Registrations is stepping into the 21st century to meet the demands of the legions of news-thirsty followers.
The agency is tuning into the world of Really Simple Syndication, commonly referred to as RSS, to provide a constant news feed for both journalists to source material and other interested parties.
RSS is a family of web feed formats used to publish frequently updated works - such as blog entries, news headlines, audio and video and all in a standardised format.
Damian Lawson, DVLA Personalised Registrations’ Marketing Manager, said: " We are regularly being asked to provide news, features and updates to both our legion of personalised registrations enthusiasts together with the media".
"RSS is the perfect way in which we can convey our news, easily and efficiently, to all parties, be it in the written form or broadcast via video."
An RSS document - referred to as a "feed", "web feed", or "channel" - includes full or summarised text and can be received via PCs and mobile phones. The system allows the DVLA to syndicate content automatically as well as benefiting readers who want to subscribe to timely updates from favoured websites or to aggregate feeds from many sites into one place.
Subscribing could not be simpler, users have to click on the distinctive RSS icon 
in a browser to initiative the free subscription process. The RSS reader checks the user's subscribed feeds regularly for new work, downloads any updates that it finds, and provides a user interface to monitor and read the feeds.
